Amethyst Rose de France
Amethyst Rose de France is a precious stone belonging to the amethyst group. It is an amethyst of unmistakable pastel color, bright pink or purple, usually reminiscent of the color of lavender or lilac, and its beauty can boldly compete with kunzite, which is also one of the precious stones, relatively rare. The color shade depends, among other things, on the iron content. Unlike amethyst, which occurs in various shades of purple, lilac to dark purple, amethyst Rose de France contains iron in smaller quantities, which gives the unmistakable gentle color tone of this gemstone. This type of amethyst was especially popular during the Victorian era and is currently reviving its popularity with an emphasis on the beauty of pastel gems.
The origin of the name is unknown. Some sources state that due to the popularity of amethyst in France, it was called the Flower of France. However, it is a poetic name for a gemstone of a distinctive lilac color, a specific purple hue.
Location: Brazil
Amethyst is mined in Brazil, while the amethyst deposits of Rose de France are in the provinces of Minas Gerais Bahia and Marabá. Brazilian amethyst appeared in Europe in 1727 and soon became very fashionable. His popularity has not changed over time.
