Blue John Fluorite

Blue John is an exceptional healing stone , a wonderful variant of fluorite that shows us that everything in life has two sides, light and dark, things negative and things positive. It helps us learn from good things and bad things. Blue John helps us learn from ourselves and learn from things and events around us . He can guide us, show us the way and the solution to the seemingly unsolvable

Blue John is probably the most valued and therefore also the most expensive fluorite in the world.
It is mined in the only place in the world, in the Blue John Cavern, Derbyshire, England. This is also where its name comes from. England is generally recognized as a source of high-quality fluorite, but Blue John plays a leading role among them. This fluorite is mined in relatively small quantities and is mainly used for the production of decorative objects - vases, cups, bowls. Recently, his popularity has been increasing for the production of beautiful jewelry. Blue Jon is once again one of the semi-precious stones that we highly recommend for purchase, not only because of its natural beauty and metaphysical properties, but also because of its apparently increasing price in the future. Even today, its price for collector's items varies between 150 and 300 dollars per piece. Although similarly colored fluorite is mined in several other places in the world - for example in the Ardennes in Belgium or in the Cave in Rock area in the USA, none of them reach the beauty and colors of Blue John.
Blue John is characterized by beautiful color stripes, mainly in a combination of purple and red , very often also in dark blue and yellow, so it may seem a little strange to call it Blue John. This name probably comes from the ancient past, when French miners called it "bleu, jaune", meaning blue-yellow. The French word "yellow" - jaune, transformed over time into the English name John - i.e. Honza in Czech.
Some sources state that the fluorite in the Blue John Cave was already mined by the Romans during their rule over part of England. The Roman writer Pliny the Elder mentions in his writings colored rocks, called "murrhine", from which cups were made for rich Romans, who believed that drinking alcoholic beverages from these cups would protect them from drunkenness due to excessive consumption of wine. It is not entirely certain whether these were cups directly from Blue John, but the description of the mysterious stone substance used to make ancient Roman cups closely matches fluorite
