The most famous light festival is the Hindu festival Diwali, also known as the Festival of Light, which lasts 5 days, during the lunisolar month of Kartika (from mid-October to mid-November). It is a celebration of the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and bliss over ignorance. The Diwali celebration welcomes light into our lives. Light is associated with success and hope. Diya or Dia candlesticks are traditionally used. The candlesticks are decorated by hand with special ornaments. Candles are made from melted butter (ghee, ghee), and have a cotton wick, sometimes soaked in perfume.
The use of candles has a very long tradition. From time immemorial, candles have been burned in sacred places, lit for good luck and fulfilling unspoken wishes in churches around the world.
Be sure to blow out the candle when leaving the room. Keep it out of the reach of children. Do not touch the candlestick while the candle is burning and for some time after it has burned out, the metal is hot.
