The first Labradorites reached Europe in the 18th century. after they were found on Canada's Labrador Peninsula in 1770. The first pieces were found by the Czech missionary Father Adolf. The mineral was named by the French mineralogist and geologist François Sulpice Beudant (1787 - 1850).

Labradorite is considered a mystical and protective stone in folk traditions. Used as a talisman - whether as a stone or a piece of jewelry, it supposedly brings light into life and supports the development of intuition and brings new ideas. It is said to remove negative energies attacking the aura, suppress fear, uncertainty, remnants of old disappointments and strengthen self-belief.
