Technical description: Moqui Marbles are spherical, smooth, compressed sandstone. The filling consists of compounds of iron, manganese, titanium and palladium. They are embedded in Navajo sandstone rocks, from where rain and water wash them out. They got their name from the Indians of the "Moqui" tribe, on whose territory they are located. The majority of this Navajo territory has been declared a national monument, and stones are no longer allowed to be mined in this area. Therefore, "Moqui Marbles" are quite rare.
