Vltavín - tektite with an unmistakable color

Vltavín is a tectite, it is almost identical to clay rocks, but unlike volcanic glasses (eg opsidian) it contains almost no water. It is a silica glass. It was discovered in the Czech Republic in 1787 near Týn nad Vltavou. Its name "Vltavín" after the Vltava River, also "Moldavit" (from the German translation Vltava - Moldau) is derived from the site. Vltavín is the result of a meteorite impact in Bavaria 15 million years ago, today's Ries crater. It has a typical green color and is translucent against the light. May contain air bubbles. Degree of hardness: 5 to 6.

Tektite is a rock formed by the impact of an extraterrestrial body - a meteorite on the earth's surface. The formation of moldavites is expected about 15 million years ago. After the impact of the meteorite, the existing rocks melted, the action of heat and energy led to the connection of the rocks with the meteorite and the formation of moldavites. Moldavites occur mainly in South Bohemia and Moravia, small deposits are in Austria (Waldviertel) and Germany (Lausitz), rarely in Poland.

In Moravia, moldavites are located between Dukovany and Dalešice. The largest moldavite found so far in this area weighs 150 g and is stored in the Moravian Museum in Brno.
Other localities where moldavites can be found are, for example, Vícenice, Mohelno or Kožichovice.

Vltavín mainly influences and harmonizes the heart chakra and the frontal chakra , and is used to strengthen the search for one's own path. It is a stone of spiritual growth, search and healing. It is one of the stones of intense frequency and high vibration. In ancient times, it was considered a mystical stone that can help bring happiness and the fulfillment of desires. It is considered the "stone" of the Holy Grail (the cup or vessel from which Jesus Christ allegedly drank at the Last Supper).
