Yellow: the color of light, joy, optimism and vitality

Yellow is a symbol of optimism, enlightenment, warmth and clarity. It is the color of sunshine and bright summer days. It is also the color of the summer solstice, a time of bright, long days, the color of warmth.

Yellow is the color of people born in the early summer, from June 22 to July 22, i.e. under the sign of Cancer. It is therefore the color of the middle of the year, the successful beginning of a new journey, promises and fulfilled promises, and "sunny" optimism.

Yellow in Feng Shui represents the subdued energy of fire and is usually placed in the center of a room to promote cheerfulness, joy, and bring light and energy to the entire space.

The energy of fire is the energy of enthusiasm, warmth, clarity, emotions and passion. Yellow in nature symbolizes the male element Yang, i.e. male energy, light and creative force, which personifies reason and penetration. The energy of fire is traditionally associated with the southern part of a room , apartment or house and ensures the reputation of the dwelling and its own position within the family.

It can have different meanings in different cultures – for example, in Eastern traditions it is associated with wisdom and spirituality, while in Western ones it often symbolizes happiness and creativity. When associated with negative emotions, yellow can evoke jealousy, deceit or cowardice.

In China, yellow is a royal color, the color of emperors (especially during the Ming dynasty).

    Yellow is a sacred color, associated with the Vedic goddess Saraswati, the goddess of wisdom and education. It is a symbol of happiness, light, peace and is worn during religious ceremonies.

    Yellow is a symbol of courage and nobility, it is the traditional color of warriors and heroes.

    Yellow is the color of light, nobility, but also jealousy or betrayal.

  • Modern Western culture
    Yellow is the color of optimism, joy and energy.
    Yellow at a traffic light means: watch out, red is coming, but also watch out, green is coming. One time a call to caution, the other time to action.

Chromotherapy is an alternative method that uses light and colors to harmonize the body and mental space. It is used mainly to suppress stress and tension. The chromotherapeutic effects of the color yellow are: strengthening, awakening, self-confidence, vitality and awareness.

How can the color yellow affect the psyche?

Yellow usually has a positive effect on the psyche - it stimulates the mind, promotes creativity, decision-making, improves mood and has an optimistic effect. However, it can also cause restlessness or irritation if it is too saturated or too much.

Yellow color and chakras

In the chakra system, yellow is associated with the solar plexus chakra (Manipura), which is located in the abdominal area above the navel. This chakra is the center of personal power, self-confidence, and willpower. When the solar plexus chakra is balanced, a person feels energetic, confident, and has clear thinking. When it is blocked, it can lead to self-doubt, anxiety, or digestive problems.
