Symbolism of Buddha the Healer: Buddha brings knowledge to people and is a symbol of health. He is usually depicted with blue skin, right hand extended, resting on knee, fingers pointing upwards, palm facing forward. In his left hand, the Buddha holds a bowl of herbs. Tibetans believe that the Buddha brings knowledge of medicine to people, and in fact the right hand that points outwards means "bestowing blessings" on humanity.
The Buddha is worshiped by health seekers and is more common in the Buddhist temples and communities of Nepal and Tibet.
Buddha (Sanskrit: Bhaisajyagura) represents the protective aspect of the historical Shakyamuni Buddha. His visualization is a blue skin color, like lapis lazuli. In his right hand he usually holds a branch of myrobalán plum tree (also known as pins), in his left hand he holds a bowl filled with nectar. It represents an excess of the three "poisons": attachment, hatred and ignorance. These negative states of mind lead to disturbances in the energy flowing in the body and thus physical and mental symptoms of illness arise.
