Variscite is a rare mineral of green color of a whole range of shades from light green to dark green to green-blue, more rarely it can be white or gray with brown inclusions. It was originally found in Germany, then in Bolivia, Austria, Australia, but also in the Czech Republic. Illustrative image.

Variscite is named after the deposit - Vogtland, Varisca in Latin, Fojtsko in Czech. It is a historical area on the border of the Czech region of Ašsko and the three German free states of Bavaria, Sass and Thuringia. The name of the area comes from the times when it was managed by foyts from Vidava, Gera, Plavno and Krajka.

Variscite is one of the powerful protective stones and is traditionally used as an amulet to mitigate the aggressive behavior of the surroundings. Variscit soothes, helps keep life in balance and eases the pain caused by indifference and rudeness. It gives life force and promotes mental resilience. It is a calming stone, sometimes called a "caring" stone, used to relieve fear, tension, anxiety and impatience. It brings feelings of joy, peace and harmony.
