Jadeite and amber

Jadeite is a monoclinic mineral, an opaque silicate from the group of pyroxenes with a hardness of 6-6.5. This precious stone can be found in grey, white, green, blue and purple. The name comes from Spanish and means kidney or lumbar stone. It is therefore not surprising that, according to folk traditions, it is used to cleanse the kidneys and the entire blood circulation.

In Chinese culture , jade symbolizes love , courage and justice. It is traditionally associated with the heart chakra, it is said that it is most effective if it is placed near the heart. It is also said that jade is soothing, bringing love to our hearts and peace and tranquility to our souls.

Due to its easy workability, jadeite was widely used for the production of figurines and decorative objects. From history, we can mention, for example, the Olmecs, who made ritual objects from this stone and for them it was more valuable than gold or precious gems. The Aztecs also used jade. Formed into balls and balls, it was inserted into statues and into the mouths of the dead.

There are deposits of jadeite in Europe, specifically in Slovakia, France or Spain, but also in Canada, China, Brazil or Japan. Nowadays, both fashion and home accessories are made from this healing stone. It also found its place in the jewelry industry. Amber is a special form of carbonaceous mineral. It is a mineralized resin of Tertiary conifers about 50 million years old (but there are reports of amber up to 320 million years old!). The color of amber is yellow to gold, white, transparent, black, red or brown. Red amber from Mexico is considered rare and highly valued, but blue amber from Sicily is also popular.

As early as the 6th century BC, it has been known about amber that if rubbed with a woolen cloth, an electrical charge of static electricity is created. The great interest is that although we know the composition and origin of this mineral, it has not yet been possible to produce it artificially.

Amber is used most often in jewelry. Amber jewelry is very beautiful and flattering. You can buy an amber ring, an amber pendant or an amber bracelet . Amber with fossil insects is also in high demand. Insects in amber can be really diverse, for example ant, mosquito, fly, spider or dragonfly. Amber deposits exist all over the world, and the Czech Republic is no exception. The largest deposits are located on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea, as well as in Romania, Mexico, Sicily or Great Britain.

Although amber is not a crystal, the traditions of the Nordic peoples around the Baltic Sea attribute healing and cleansing capabilities to it. Amber is said to suppress negative energy and help find balance. It is also said that it brings stability and penetration into life, and diverts us from bad thoughts. In the Baltics, parents traditionally give it to children as a teething talisman.
