Feng Shui - living room
9 simple steps to furnish a living room according to Feng Shui
The living room is a room designed for many purposes, very pleasant. From watching TV, through pleasant moments with a favorite book and drink, to meeting family and friends. It's a room where most of us "finally sit down" after having our daily responsibilities. It is therefore important that this space is balanced, has a positive energy and contributes to our overall comfort and desire to relax in it.
Rule 1 - Clean the area
By cleaning the space, we do not only mean cleaning and arranging things, but also promoting positive energy by scenting it with a popular scent. This can be achieved in several ways - by using essential or fragrant oils through an aroma lamp or an electric aroma diffuser , which is also an attractive decoration, by using fragrant sprays , or by smoking .
For general cleansing, it is possible to recommend, for example, smoking dried white sage (Salvia apiana), which has a pleasant camphor, herbal scent. In aromatherapy, it is used to relieve colds, colds and respiratory diseases, to relax the mind and for overall relaxation.
Feng Shui crystals or hanging decorations are ideal for making a space special, for stimulating a positive mood.
Rule 2 - ventilation
The easiest way to "cleanse" the air is through ventilation. Ventilate for 9 minutes. Why 9?
The number 9 is considered to have achieved the goal and thus at the same time anticipates a new beginning. It represents generosity, love, wisdom. Nine is controlled by Mars. The house with the descriptive number 9 is a perfect place for dedicated people, for all who have a desire to help others. By ventilating, you let fresh air into the room and with it new energy.
Rule 3 - decclutering, ie cleaning leading to minimalism
Have things around you that are absolutely necessary, and it doesn't matter if they are purposeful or just for fun. Too many things reflect today's hectic times, stress, little time and rush in our daily lives. If you have wide window sills that can fit a large number of essentials, keep in mind that they go hand in hand with the difficulty of keeping them from dust. You can expose things to less, but change them more often.
Rule 4 - use Bagua https://www.nefertitis.cz/bagua-ve-feng-shui/
Bagua is a compass that can be used to determine the positive and negative directions of 9 areas of life - again the "nine". In Feng Shui, ba-gua is an ancient energy system that corresponds to the way of life. It is used to find out how which part of the home, but also the office or garden affects various areas of our lives - love, finance, health, career, etc.
Rule 5 - balancing the five elements https://www.nefertitis.eu/feng-shui-elements/
Yes, we mean earth, metal, water, wood and fire. Each element is assigned a color (s), a world page, and properties that are supported by that element.
Overview of colors and shapes belonging to individual elements (PRINCIPLES FOR INDIVIDUAL ELEMENTS)
Element | Color / colors | Shapes |
Earth | Brown | flat, square |
Metal | gray, white, silver | round |
Water | blue, black | wavy |
Wood | green, brown | rectangular, columnar |
Fire | red, purple, pink, yellow | triangular |
Rule 6 - the meaning of colors in the living room according to feng shui
The symbolism of colors is especially important for those of us who see it as meaning, identify with it, and at least partially follow it in their decisions. Colors are far from just walls, but also furniture, art and other accessories.
Wondering which colors are suitable for the living room according to feng shui? The ideal color for the living room is orange, which is a symbol of joy, friendship, pleasure and family togetherness. Orange is the most amazing color for its natural strength and effect, it is the color of joy, friendship and physical pleasure. In Feng Shui, it represents the energy of fire, enthusiasm, passion, warmth and activity.
Blue shades are suitable for rooms intended for relaxation. Blue helps to relax, think, suppress stress. Other suitable colors are, for example, green, which stimulates vitality, is a traditional color that is soothing. Green in Feng Shui represents the energy of wood, which is traditionally associated with the eastern or southeastern part of a room, apartment or house. It represents family, health, prosperity and abundance. Indigo color embodies openness, intelligibility and better communication.
Olive paint is used to increase effort, which requires excessive concentration and diligent precision.
Truth and harmony are reflected in the darker tones of olive color. Dark olive means awareness, change, strengthening the ability to listen, independence, the search for meaning and essence, abundance, renewal and improvement, a sense of values, dealing with despondency and carelessness.
Yellow is a symbol of optimism, enlightenment, warmth and intelligibility. Yellow in Feng Shui represents the subdued energy of fire and is usually placed in the center of the room to promote merriment, joy, and bring light and energy throughout the space.
We choose colors intuitively, emotionally, according to how we feel in them, according to fashion trends, or according to what meaning is traditionally assigned to them, what we expect from them and what we want to express through them.
Rule 7 - create a space in which everyone close to you will feel good
Even a seemingly small detail can positively support your interest or, on the contrary, ruin it. Every member of the household must have their own comfortable "place". Who of us has a dog or a cat at home knows that even these members of the household enforce the right to their favorite place on the couch, in a chair, under a table, which then represents their refuge. Everyone should feel welcome at home, well and comfortably.
Rule 8 - Fill your home with plants
That every plant will die for you? The plant must be chosen with regard to the environment in which it will be placed, with regard to light, humidity and, of course, the complexity of care. There are also "almost indestructible" plants, yet very decorative, such as nolina, known as the elephant's foot. Live flowers bring positive life energy.
Rule 9 - Paintings, photographs or other art
You can follow the colors when choosing art. E.g. fiery red painting evokes the energy of fire, passion, strength, love, action. The subdued energy of fire is represented by pink and yellow.
Avoid anything that could negatively affect your feelings - a work of art that does not like, but remains because it is, for example, a tradition in the family, a gift from a loved one, belonged to someone who is no longer in our lives, etc.
The placement itself is also important, at least to eye level. For example, you can define a corner where there will be photos of everyone who is dear to you and you will always have them in sight.
Remember that even if you don't need a living room exactly according to feng shui, it is important that you and everyone who belongs to your life feel good in it.
